Volunteering at VQFF

I want to volunteer at VQFF!

Wonderful! We are looking for volunteers to support the 2026 Vancouver Queer Film Festival this summer! We will offer both in-person and remote opportunities, with a greater need for in-person volunteers in Vancouver.

We are open to multiple levels of experience and skill. Must be 18+ years old to volunteer unless otherwise stated.

Check out this link to sign up for shifts and get notified about upcoming opportunities!

What kind of opportunities do you have?

We have a few general categories:

Event Support Event support volunteers help to make sure our special events and event activations are successful. You love parties, meeting new people or supporting behind the scenes. Event support includes in-person opportunities and duties such as set-up/take-down, greeters, and supporting our promotional booth at external Pride events.
Website & Platform Testing These volunteers support the digital accessibility and revision process of our website, and other public-facing platforms. You enjoy user-friendly design, providing constructive feedback, and being the first to test a new product. These opportunities are both remote and hosted in our offices.
Distribution Sometimes you love VQFF so much, you want to shout it on the streets! But thankfully, we have cool posters to tell everyone what's happening. These volunteers help canvas the neighbourhoods with our posters, guides, and flyers. This opportunity requires an in-person pick up.
VIP Mailout These volunteers believe in the power of snail mail, but may move faster than the speed of light! If you are detail-oriented or always wanted to try your hand as a mail carrier, this opportunity may be for you. Help package mail-out materials and get them in the hands of our patrons.

Why should I volunteer for VQFF?

Aside from being able to hang out with a group of awesome queers folks? Here are the perks:

  • Exclusive VQFF Volunteer T-Shirt
  • FREE vouchers to watch queer films!
  • An awesome volunteer appreciation party with swag

What if I have accessibility needs?

That's totally fine! We work with folks from all different lived experiences and abilities and will work with you to find a role that's a good fit.
