I’m a filmmaker, how do I submit a film to Out In Schools?

Thank you so much for your interest!

We know there’s a lot of good films out there, and we’re always looking for new stories to share! We’re predominantly looking for films that centre the lived experiences of young queer, trans, or Two Spirit people and/or that have been made by youth or with significant input from young people.

We prefer short films (under 30 minutes) that are in English or have English subtitles. We prefer to screen captioned films for increased accessibility, and can work with filmmakers to add captions in some cases.

We prefer to have films submitted through our FilmFreeway account, which is shared with the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. When submitting your film, simply select the Out In Schools category for your submission and we’ll be notified to review your film.
